American Music ClubJustly lauded asone of America's finest singer/songwriters, Mark Eitzel and his band American Music Club have enjoyed more rave Press coverage than just about any other emergent US act of the last five years. 'Course, it's not mere hype; Mark has arare ability to explore the blank hinterlands of human relations and return with songs of consuming power, that rival the best of Leonard Cohen and Neil Young, and even hint at the lost and darker talents still of Fred Neil, Lee Hazlewood and Jackson Frank. He also sings them with a raw and bleeding voice (Rumour has it that there exists a version of Eitzel singing The Carpenters' "Goodbye To Love" - can you imagine?). But, let us not forget that AMC are a band, and their shifting rhythmic patterns and tonal colourations are essential to the overall effect.
