Best Of American Guitar Bands

Nectar Masters NTMCD 509
The early 80's saw the rise of a new type of American guitar band. They took the energy of the New Wave and merged it with the song structures and inflections of Country Music and psychedelic West-Coast rock.
Bands such as Dream Syndicate, Long Ryders and Green On Red were all part of a movement that spawned R.E.M. and helped to make Rock Music no longer a term of abuse.
As each new generation of American bands adapts and embellishes the legacy it seems that the forerunners gain in stature and reputation far beyond their original sales.
The bands form the link between the music of Johnny Cash, Gram Parsons and the Beach Boys and that of Soundgarden or Nirvana.
