What Demon Records say about itThin White Rope's guitar rock, with elements of psychedelia, punk and country, has been called "the most frightening music ever to emanate from the dreamy shores of California" (Colin Hill, Bucketfull Of Brains, No. 11).They're not quite from the coast. Instead, the George Romero/Johnny Cash sounds of this quartet congealed in a backwards Central Valley town. But their distance from the popular underground scenes has proved an advantance - no short-sighted club owners or shorter-lived trends have strangled Thin White Rope's developing style. Roger contributes an eclectic guitar backed by a decade of electric technique. Jozef's love of tribal dirge and Steve's roots in r'n'b'n'r'n'r' place the band is a solid, grinding, sometimes even swinging groove, Guy's eccentric vocals and barely controlled feedback make the band "almost unlistenable", according to one elderly reviewer. Thin White Rope's first album, Exploring The Axis, appears on Frontier Records. Producer Jeff Eyrich (Gun Club, Rank And File, Blasters, Plimsouls) and engineer Dennis Dragon are helping to bring the frightening sound to a climax. Liner notes to Exploring The Axis |

ME/S-ReviewWas Bands wie Rain Parade und Del Fuegos nur versprechen - The Thin White Rope aus Kalifornien haben's: zwingende Sounds & Visionen!Die LP EXPLORING THE AXIS (Lippo/TIS) vermischt das Gefühl des guten alten Psycho-Beats mit treibendem Rockabilly-Sexbeat. Allein "Disney Girl" mit schleichender Feedback-Gitarre und Zeitlupen-Gesang ("You are my disney girl, too many fingers for your world") ist den Kauf dieser Platte wert.
