True West

Russ Tolman and Gavin Blair were shortly in The Suspects together with Steve Wynn and Kendra Smith. The Suspects broke up into the Dream Syndicate and the True West. True West formed about 1981 in Davis, California and spun through many line-ups. By 1983 after the release of the "Lucifer Sam" 45 and the True West 5 song EP, the band included Kevin Staydohar, Steve Packenham and Richard McGrath. Between some minor changes in the band line-up there was Jozef Becker on drums. With Staydohar and Becker you recognize a close connection to Thin White Rope.
When Russ Tolman left the band after Drifters, the left four members tried to carry on as a quartet, but they didn't succeed without their head and writer. One record after True West's time had run out. At least one song from Drifters has made the True West immortal: And Then The Rain. Hear it - sing along - never forget it!
